Freelance Design Studio

In the period after Art College and also whilst employed by HMSO, evenings, weekends and holidays were frequently given over to running a small, freelance, graphic design consultancy for various clients within both the public and private sectors.

This diverse range included amongst others: Robert Smart Architect; The Scottish Arts Council; Ash Gupta Advertising; University of Strathclyde; Morrison Homes and St Giles’ Cathedral.

In the mid 1980’s, Ron and HMSO design colleague Jim Cairns, joined forces with Glasgow based Designer and Lecturer at Glasgow College of Print, Ken Cassidy, to create a freelance design collective working as Pointsize Associates.
